Say I wanted to upgrade my PC... what should I do next?

Here's my current specs:

Processor: Intel Core i5-2400 @3.1 GHz
RAM: 6GB
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7800 2GB VRAM
OS: Win7 64-bit

I'm fairly happy with the performance for the most part, but it might be nice to squeeze a few more FPS out of it in a few games. What should I upgrade?

I asked my brother who has a better opinion on these things than I do (I usually ask him about things before upgrading and most of my PC hardware are hand me downs from him), he said that your current setup is good but if you want to upgrade, it should be the GPU.

He recommended either an AMD 290x or an Nvidia GTX 780 (he also stressed not to get the ti edition).

Hmm, I was hoping it wouldn't be the GPU since that's the thing I upgraded most recently (largely out of necessity, since my old one overheated so much it broke). I'll mull it over.

EDIT: Four hundred quid! You're having a laugh. I'll stick with what I have for now. :)

I might bump up the RAM to 8GB in the short term, that might give a minor boost.
