Broke into the sarcophagus and just couldn't do it. Ended up having to restart from the autosave at the beginning of Pripyat to see if I could make it back there in a better condition in terms of supplies.

First, I corrected a mistake I'd been carrying with me for half the game: I immediately dropped the 2,000 rounds of 9mm ammo I'd been lugging around but not using. That should give me another 10kg to work with when gathering stuff.

Done. Liked it. More detailed impressions later this week.

All I need to know right now is, how's Call of Pripyat in comparison?

Call of Pripyat is less linear and somewhat more open-worldy, still segmented into zones but allowing more exploration and freedom of movement, and with AI ecosystems that accommodate it. Arguably the "best game" in the series as they had really nailed down the STALKER experience and managed to combine the best aspects of the previous games alongside some long sought after features. Two attempts later it's kind of how Shadow of Chernobyl was originally envisioned before it was gutted.

Are you skipping Clear Sky? Certainly had issues, but also some of my favourite parts of the series and lots of backstory.
